Calbee, Inc. will release “Frugra® Sweet Potato and Apple Maple Flavor,” a staple autumn/winter product using the original sweet potato “Beni Tenshi” from Calbee Kaitsuka Sweet Potato Co., Ltd., from September 21, 2026 (Monday) at stores other than convenience stores nationwide for a limited time.
“Frugra®” is a cereal that offers a crunchy texture, made by mixing oats, rye, brown rice, and other grains into a fragrant, baked granola and adding fruits and nuts. It was launched in 1991 as “Fruit Granola” and renamed “Frugra®” in 2011. In March 2026, it celebrated its 35th anniversary and is currently the No. 1 selling cereal brand.
“Frugra® Sweet Potato and Apple Maple Flavor” is a limited-edition autumn/winter “Frugra®” product featuring maple-flavored granola topped with sweet potato and other fruits. Maple-flavored “Frugra®” first appeared in 2008 as “Fruit Granola Forest Bounty.” Since 2013, the toppings and flavor have been improved to meet customer needs, and it has been released every year.
Last year’s popular Calbee Kaitsuka sweet potato, “Beni Tenshi,” is used again this year, and we’ve improved the flavor to have a clean aftertaste while allowing you to enjoy the rich, deep flavor of maple. This product is especially recommended for customers who frequently purchase our standard “Frugra(R)” and want to enjoy it as a seasonal treat.
●This granola base uses maple syrup and is topped with apples, raisins, and crushed almonds, which pair perfectly with the popular “Beni Tenshi” sweet potato. This limited-edition “Frugra(R)” for autumn and winter offers the rich flavor of maple, a refreshing sweetness, just the right amount of tartness, and a delightful aroma.
●Rich in dietary fiber, iron, and 8 kinds of vitamins.
●The packaging features maple leaves and warm colors, creating a design that immediately identifies it as a limited-edition autumn/winter product in stores. It’s designed to intuitively convey the rich flavor of maple.
