Made Uncommon, the parent company behind COCO Chocolatier, UP-UP and Otherly Oatm*lk, doubles market share by acquiring Seed & Bean as well as James Cadbury’s Love Cocoa and H!P
In a bold move that signals the emergence of a new powerhouse in ethical chocolate and design-led gifting, Made Uncommon debuts as a new parent company uniting a collective of niche, mission-driven chocolate brands under one purpose-led portfolio.
The transition marks a strategic evolution from a single premium chocolate maker to a collective of extraordinary brands, united by one goal: to deliver thoughtful, high-quality products that bring joy to customers while doing good for people and planet along the way.
Who Is Made Uncommon?
Made Uncommon (madeuncommon.co) is a parent company that unites mission-led chocolate brands — COCO Chocolatier, UP-UP, Otherly Oatm*lk, and now the newly acquired Seed & Bean, Love Cocoa, and H!P Chocolate.
Each brand retains its unique identity but shares a common purpose: to create chocolate that combines ethical sourcing, design-led creativity, and positive impact across the supply chain.
Made Uncommon brings together craft, responsible sourcing, and innovation to reimagine what modern chocolate can be — building a collective that celebrates artistry, sustainability, and originality in equal measure.
“This isn’t about consolidation—it’s about curation,” said Calum Haggerty, Founder of COCO Chocolatier and now CEO of Made Uncommon. “We’re assembling the most exciting brands in chocolate and gifting, giving each one the platform and creative freedom to thrive, while building a group that’s far greater than the sum of its parts.”
Strategic Acquisitions & Integration
As part of this evolution, Made Uncommon confirms the acquisition of Love Cocoa and its sister brand H!P Chocolate, founded by James Cadbury, alongside the ethical and 100% organic chocolate pioneer Seed & Bean.
By bringing these brands into its portfolio alongside COCO Chocolatier,
UP-UP, and Otherly, Made Uncommon doubles its market share, marking a major step forward in its leadership of the premium, organic, and plant-based chocolate category.
Together, these brands offer a broader footprint across gifting, sustainability, and innovation, benefiting from shared marketing, operations, and distribution synergies while maintaining each brand’s individuality and creative voice.
Commitment to Cocoa Crafted at Origin
At the heart of Made Uncommon’s strategy is a commitment to building a fairer and more transparent cocoa supply chain — one that keeps more value, skill, and opportunity where cocoa is grown and crafted.
“Our focus is on rolling out Made Uncommon’s values and commitments to ethical sourcing across the group — building a more traceable and transparent supply chain that champions fairness at origin,” said Haggerty.
“By supporting chocolate crafted closer to its source, we’re shortening the supply chain, improving transparency, and ensuring that more benefit stays within cocoa-growing communities.”
This approach continues the founding principles of COCO, UP-UP and Otherly — raising skills and value at source and redefining how premium chocolate can serve both people and planet.
Future Vision
This acquisition forms part of Made Uncommon’s broader growth strategy — to build a portfolio of distinctive, mission-driven chocolate brands that lead in design, innovation, and responsible sourcing.
“Our vision is to redefine what ethical chocolate looks like on a global scale,” added Haggerty.
“We’re focused on sustainable growth in the UK and internationally
— expanding the reach of our brands while deepening our impact at origin in Colombia.”
Every bar Made Uncommon produces should not only taste extraordinary but also contribute to a fairer, more sustainable future for the people behind it.
